Equipping hunters, fishermen, campers…the origin of AK Outdoors

AK Outdoors Owner Allan Koffler always knew that one day he was going to run his own business. He credits his mom and stepdad for introducing him to drive and work ethic that’s necessary to be a successful small business owner. Born and raised in the Medford area, Allan enlisted in the Marine Corps where he proudly served as a demolition expert. Upon the end of his service, he came back to central Wisconsin where he transitioned from part-time to full-time, and then to management at a local outdoors specialty business. During this time, he learned not only about the products and the customers, but also about himself and his desire to someday start an outdoor enthusiast business of his own.

When the opportunity arose due to construction of a new convenience store which then shut down his previous employer, he felt it was a blessing in disguise. Now he could take his longtime love for hunting and fishing and make his dreams a reality. Allan opened AK Outdoors in July of 2020 and persevered through the pandemic with the same determination and passion that has guided his entire life. It is this strong competitive trait that drives him to be the best at whatever it is that he is doing, and his customers recognize that every time they walk in the door.

A dedicated family man, Allan enjoys passing his love (and knowledge) for the outdoors onto his two teenage boys and young daughter, who also can be seen helping out around the business.
